PRAYER PSALM 55
Baruch Ata YHVH, Elohey Yisrael, Avi’nu.
(Bless
You, YHVH - Elohim of Israel, our Father)
Give
ear to our prayer, O YHVH - El Shaddai (Almighty), and do not hide Yourself
from our supplication, because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression
of the wicked; They bring down trouble upon us, and in wrath they hate us. Destroy and divide their tongues, for we have
seen violence and strife in their cities! Day and night they go around on the
walls; while iniquity, oppression, deceit, trouble, and destruction are in their
midst and do not depart from their streets.
Let death seize them; let them go down alive into hell, for wickedness
is in their dwellings and among them.
Bring them down to the pit of destruction; for bloodthirsty and deceitful
men shall not live out half their days.
Afflict them, for even those who have been from of old have not changed;
they do not fear You, YHVH - Elohey Yisrael (God of Israel).
Attend to us, Abba, and hear us. As You can see, we are restless in our complaint,
and moan noisily. Our hearts are severely pained within us. Fearfulness, trembling, and the terrors of death have fallen upon us.
Horror has overwhelmed us; nevertheless, we will trust You, El
Ne’eman (Faithful God).
O
YHVH – Miphla’tey'nu (our Refuge), if only we had wings like a dove! We would fly
away and be at rest. Indeed, we would
wander far off and remain in the wilderness.
We would hasten our escape from this windy storm and tempest.
For
it is not an enemy who reproaches us, for it were, then we could bear it. Nor is it one who hates us, who has exalted
himself against us; if that were the case, we could hide from him. But it was a close friend, a man our equal,
our companion, and our acquaintance. We
took sweet counsel together, and walked in Your house, Mal’key’nu (our King),
in the midst of all those who gathered there.
The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his
heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords. He put forth his hands against those who were
at peace with him, and has broken his covenant.
As
for us, we will call upon You, Elohey Yeshua’tey’nu (God of our Salvation), for
it is only You that shall save us. We
will cast our burden upon You, Tzu’rey’nu (our Rock), and You shall sustain us;
You shall never permit the righteous to be moved. Therefore, evening and morning, and at noon,
we will pray and cry aloud to You, El Ro’ey’nu (God Who Sees and Provides for
us); for You Go’aley’nu (our Redeemer) hear
our voice, and will redeem our soul in peace from the battle that is against us,
for there are many against us.
Hallelu-Yah!!! For You YHVH are Elohim. You are Elohey Yisrael, Elohey Avraham,
Yitzchak, and Ya’acov. Avi’nu, the
Almighty reigns!
